Nigerian disc jockey Soseneyayi Amar-Aigbe, popularly known as DJ Sose has finally explained the reason behind the giant tattoo on his face.
The Ibadan born DJ explained in an interview with Punch’s Sunday Scoop why he had to go for that tattoo.
According to DJ Sose, when he started his career behind the turntables, there were others who looked like him and had similar styles and that made it difficult for him to be noticed.
As a means of standing out, he decided to tattoo his face and mentioned that it had served him well over the years as it has become his brand and trademark.
“My face tattoo is my trademark– a marketing strategy to make me stand out.
“In the beginning, when I started, I kept getting mixed up with another DJ who was also mixed race and looked like me.
“We had similar mixing styles too. I had to figure out a way to stand out from the crowd.
“This is my calling card. You can forget my name but you can never forget my face.”
DJ Sose also believes that DJs have changed the music industry in Nigeria and have made the profession more of a business now than just a hobby.
“DJs have changed the game. We have made it more of a branding situation.
“We are now individuals and brands to be reckoned with. We are more business-like than before.
“I came back to the industry to make sure that is the situation,” he said.
